What are hairpin legs?
Hairpin legs are furniture legs designed originally by Henry P Glass. Made from metal rods bent into a 'hairpin' shape, they were popularized in the mid-20th century and are known for their strength, simplicity, and elegant lines. Hairpin legs are versatile and can make tables, chairs, stools, and more.
How to attach hairpin legs?
Hairpin legs are straightforward to fit to most pieces of furniture. If you are dealing with solid wood, use the screws provided and place the legs about 5 - 10cm in from the table's edge. A small 1 - 2mm pilot hole will help the screws go in, but this is not usually required.
How do you fit hairpin legs to glass or stone?
The easiest way to achieve this at home is by glueing a piece of 18 - 24mm plywood to the underside of the tabletop and then screwing the legs into the wood as standard. Something like Gorilla glue works well for this. You can also use other woods like MDF, but they could be better due to the reduced strength.

It is possible to glue or drill directly into stone or glass, but this is a little more specialist and not much of a DIY solution.
How to reduce wobble on a table with hairpin legs?
If you have selected the correct legs for your project, they should be rock solid. Wobble is usually caused by choosing 2-rod legs when you need 3-rod legs or not screwing the legs into the top tightly. Wobble can also be caused by the tabletop itself when particularly weak or thin.

For a 71cm or taller table height, we suggest 3-rod legs to ensure stability.
How much weight can hairpin legs hold?
Hairpin legs are solid and can typically hold up to 100 kg per leg when correctly installed on an appropriate tabletop. The weight capacity can depend on factors such as the quality of the legs, the type of material they're attached to, and the number of rods in each leg.
