For coats, by the door

These are the same well-made hooks as our wall hooks, chosen for the job most people buy a hook for: hanging coats in a hallway or entryway. Every hook is rated conservatively at 7kg or more, and the curved J hook holds 15kg or more, so a heavy winter coat is no problem, as long as your wall fixings can take the load. They also mount neatly to the back of a solid wood door, a handy way to add hanging space without using up wall, provided the door is solid rather than hollow.

Choosing a style

Three styles. The J hook is a curved steel hook in playful colours, the strongest of the three and a good choice for a busy family hallway. The hardwood hooks are solid oak, walnut, maple, black or white, for a warmer, calmer look. The solid-brass hooks are CNC-machined in six shapes, in brushed brass, matt black, satin copper or industrial nickel, and share their finishes with our cabinet knobs and handles, so a coat hook by the door can match the hardware inside.

Fixing

Every hook fixes to the wall with screws, and the box contains high-quality hardware for brick, wood and plasterboard. Into wood or a stud, screw straight in; into brick, use the wall plug supplied. On plasterboard, for heavy use in a busy hallway, fix on or near a stud, or use at least one expanding or butterfly plug per hook. A hook is only as strong as the fixing behind it.
